Three armed suspects remain on the run after a mass shooting at a pub in Scarborough, Toronto. The attack, which occurred at 10:39 PM on Friday (3:39 AM GMT Saturday), left 12 people injured.

Authorities reported that six victims suffered gunshot wounds, while others sustained injuries from flying glass and debris. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Police said the three men entered the pub and opened fire indiscriminately using an assault rifle and handguns. Investigators have not yet determined a motive but are pursuing all leads.

A Reckless and Shocking Attack

Police Superintendent Paul MacIntyre condemned the shooting, calling it a “brazen and reckless act of violence” that has shaken the city.

“We are using all available resources to track down these suspects,” he said.

One suspect, wearing a black balaclava, was seen fleeing in a silver car. The victims range in age from their 20s to mid-50s.

Despite the severity of the attack, MacIntyre expressed relief that no one was killed. “It’s incredibly lucky,” he said.

Scene of Chaos and Fear

Video footage of the attack left officers horrified.

“These gunmen turned toward the crowd and opened fire without hesitation. It was terrifying,” MacIntyre stated.

The shooting shattered glass walls, leaving bloodstains on the floors. Some patrons ran to the basement for safety before police arrived.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow reacted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing deep concern.

“This remains an ongoing investigation. Police will provide further updates. My thoughts are with the victims and their families,” she wrote.

Gun Violence in Toronto

The number of injuries in this attack surpasses other shootings in the area this year. In 2023, eight people were injured and two killed in firearm-related incidents within the same police division.

Toronto, a city of three million, recorded 43 shooting deaths last year. Although Canada has lower firearm homicide rates than the United States—0.6 per 100,000 people compared to 4.5 per 100,000—concerns over gun violence persist.

Police urge anyone with information to come forward as the search for the suspects continues.
