During his third official visit to Saudi Arabia, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the strength of the India–Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership, calling the Kingdom “a trusted friend and strategic ally.” In an exclusive interview with Arab News, Modi praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s progressive leadership and lauded the impact of Vision 2030 in modernizing Saudi Arabia’s global outlook.

Modi emphasized that the foundation of the India–Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership, formally established in 2019, rests on mutual trust and shared ambitions. He referred to the relationship as one with “limitless potential,” highlighting a surge in bilateral collaboration across energy, defense, technology, and culture.

Expanding Cooperation in Energy and Green Hydrogen

Energy remains a cornerstone of the partnership. Modi noted that Saudi Arabia is not just a key energy supplier, but also a potential collaborator in new sectors like green hydrogen and solar energy. Both nations are exploring joint ventures in petrochemicals and renewable energy, signaling a shift towards sustainable development.

Modi spotlighted the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), introduced at the 2023 G20 Summit, as a transformative project that will reshape global trade dynamics and deepen economic integration between the two countries.

Strengthening Defense and Security Ties

Defense collaboration is another critical area of focus. Modi underscored the increasing frequency of joint military exercises and growing defense cooperation. He emphasized India’s readiness to supply advanced defense equipment and welcomed Saudi investment in India’s burgeoning defense manufacturing sector.

Cultural Bridges and Diaspora Contributions

Cultural diplomacy also featured prominently in Modi’s remarks. He expressed admiration for the enthusiastic reception of Indian films, yoga, and cricket in the Kingdom. He also encouraged educational partnerships, suggesting that Indian institutions could open campuses in Saudi Arabia.

Importantly, Modi paid tribute to the 2.7 million Indians living in Saudi Arabia, referring to them as “ambassadors of goodwill.” He affirmed his government’s commitment to their welfare through initiatives like scholarships, skill development programs, and safe migration channels.

A Future Built on Shared Vision

Concluding his visit, Modi extended congratulations to Saudi Arabia for securing the rights to host the World Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034. He expressed confidence that Indian companies are well-positioned to contribute to these ambitious infrastructure efforts under Vision 2030.

With expanding cooperation in strategic sectors and cultural connectivity, the India–Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership continues to emerge as a model for 21st-century diplomacy—built on trust, ambition, and a shared vision for regional prosperity.
