Eid Al Adha 2025 UAE: How to Maximise Your Holiday

1 min read

Eid Al Adha 2025 UAE holidays are expected to begin on Thursday, June 5, with Eid day likely falling on Friday, June 6. The break will run until Sunday, June 8, offering a four-day holiday. According to the Emirates Astronomy Society, Arafah Day will fall on June 5. Eid Al Adha will follow on June 6, depending on moon sightings. If the moon is not visible on May 27, Eid may shift to Saturday, June 7.

This public holiday presents a great opportunity to extend your time off. By planning your annual leave strategically, you can enjoy a longer break with fewer leave days. Taking Monday to Wednesday off—June 2, 3, and 4—lets you start your holiday early. This approach gives you nine full days off, from June 2 to 8, while only using three leave days. You can also extend your holiday after Eid. Taking leave from June 9 to 16 gives you a total of 15 days away from work while using just nine leave days. For those wanting a middle ground, applying for leave on June 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 16 provides a 12-day break by using only six leave days.

Public holidays in the UAE are subject to official confirmation. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) typically announces final dates shortly before Eid. Before making travel plans, check your company’s policies. Under Article 28 of UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021), your employer must approve any annual leave. Legal expert Nazanin Farahani explains that while employees are entitled to paid leave on public holidays, employers decide when annual leave can be taken based on business needs. She also advises employees to apply early and review their company’s leave rules.

HR specialist Nandini Nadarajah Navaseelan recommends using what she calls the “Golden Eid Window.” She suggests applying for Thursday, June 5 and Monday, June 10 if you want to extend your break without using many leave days. She encourages early communication with your employer and recommends structuring leave requests around business requirements. Instead of a general request, explain how you’ll manage your workload. Let your manager know you’ve completed tasks, delegated duties, or arranged support while you’re away.

Avoid hoarding leave. Be flexible and help your teammates during peak periods. Building goodwill can help you gain time off when it matters most. Even one well-placed day like June 10 can make a short break feel like a much-needed retreat. As Eid approaches, think ahead. Plan your days, speak with your manager, and prepare your team. A few simple steps now could turn Eid Al Adha 2025 UAE into your most relaxing holiday yet.
