Dubai RTA Launches AI Platform to Cut Traffic Delays

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new AI-powered system aimed at easing congestion and improving traffic flow. The platform, called Data Drive – Clear Guide, combines real-time monitoring with five years of historical traffic data to deliver instant analysis and actionable insights.

The system studies road speeds, traffic density, congestion patterns, smooth flow periods, and potential bottlenecks. It also identifies sudden slowdowns, enabling faster response times. According to RTA, the initiative is part of its wider plan to harness Artificial Intelligence for smarter mobility, boost Dubai’s digital transformation, and strengthen its status as a global hub for innovation and sustainability.

With this platform, traffic officials can receive immediate notifications about changes in traffic flow. The tool allows them to compare performance across specific timeframes, detect recurring congestion points, and assess overall road network efficiency. This data-driven approach supports swift decision-making and more effective traffic management strategies.

Previously, traffic analysis relied on manual data collection from consultants, field teams, and static reports—a process that often took weeks. Now, the Data Drive – Clear Guide platform delivers detailed reports within minutes. It uses information from global traffic data providers, processes it through intelligent analytics, and presents the results on an interactive map showing average speeds, travel times, and density levels.

The platform also tracks the effectiveness of road diversions and special event traffic plans in real time. This enables RTA teams to intervene quickly, reduce delays, and fine-tune future strategies. Automated before-and-after project assessments further ensure that roadworks achieve their intended results.

By adopting this AI-powered solution, RTA has replaced slow manual methods with a responsive, automated system capable of managing Dubai’s growing traffic challenges more efficiently.
