Emirates Road Reopening Fully on August 25 for Smooth Traffic

1 min read

The Emirates Road reopening on August 25 marks a significant milestone for Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). After months of renovations, commuters traveling from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi will benefit from smoother, more efficient travel along this critical 14-km stretch.

Why the Upgrade Was Essential

The Emirates Road project, which began 2-3 months ago, involved resurfacing both the fast and slow lanes. Laser detection vehicles helped pinpoint and repair structural issues, ensuring a more durable road. Multiple asphalt layers were applied, especially in high-traffic zones, to enhance the road’s longevity and comfort.

Emirates Road reopening on August 25 is a relief for us commuters,” said Ahmed, who travels daily from Sharjah to Dubai. “I’m looking forward to a much smoother ride without the usual traffic jams.”

The Reason Behind the Emirates Road Upgrade

Abdullah Lootah, Director of Road and Facilities Maintenance at the Traffic and Roads Agency, explained that the Pavement Quality Index (PMI) fell to 85%, below the standard of 90% for Dubai. Heavy vehicle traffic, especially trucks, was responsible for this decline, prompting the decision to fully rehabilitate the road.

Enhanced Commute for Drivers

“This project will save me so much time,” said Sajeev, a commuter traveling from Sharjah to Dubai. “I won’t need to leave as early anymore, and I’ll be able to predict my commute more easily.”

A Smoother, Safer Journey Ahead

The Emirates Road reopening will provide a more seamless experience for commuters. With fewer delays and enhanced safety, travelers from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi can expect a more efficient route, reducing travel time and improving daily commutes for everyone.
