UAE motorists will benefit from lower petrol and diesel prices from Sunday, November 1, while coastal clean-up operations and airline cancellations remain important considerations for residents.
Authorities have reported a significant reduction in pollution following the GEM NO. 2 tanker spill, although environmental monitoring and recovery work are continuing. Travellers also face disruptions on some Saudi Arabia routes and an extended suspension of Singapore Airlines’ Dubai services.
The developments come amid continuing regional tensions and conflicting accounts about maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
UAE November fuel prices: Petrol falls by 24 fils
The UAE’s approved November prices bring reductions across all three petrol grades and diesel.
| Fuel type | October price per litre | November price per litre | Reduction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Super 98 | Dh4.40 | Dh4.16 | 24 fils |
| Special 95 | Dh4.28 | Dh4.04 | 24 fils |
| E-Plus 91 | Dh4.21 | Dh3.97 | 24 fils |
| Diesel | Dh4.80 | Dh4.75 | 5 fils |

For motorists, the petrol reduction translates into a Dh14.40 saving on a 60-litre purchase. A 60-litre fill of Special 95 will cost Dh242.40, compared with Dh256.80 in October.
Drivers buying 240 litres of petrol during the month would save Dh57.60, assuming their consumption remains unchanged. Diesel users purchasing 60 litres would save Dh3.
GEM NO. 2 oil spill: Pollution declines, recovery continues
UAE authorities say the spill has been stopped at its source, with no new leakage detected in the latest reported assessments.
However, containing the leak does not mean the environmental recovery is complete. Teams continue to survey affected waters and coastlines, recover oil mechanically and use approved dispersants under technical guidelines.
Satellite observations reported on October 30 placed the remaining slick mainly off Umm Al Quwain, with parts extending towards coastal areas of Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Sharjah.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment said pollution concentrations had declined significantly. It also confirmed that fish and food products available in local markets remained safe for consumption.

Flight cancellations affect Saudi routes and Singapore services
Passengers travelling between the UAE and Saudi Arabia should check their individual bookings before heading to the airport.
Etihad has extended cancellations affecting Riyadh and Dammam through November 5, with selected Jeddah services also affected. Reports differ in how broadly they describe the Jeddah cancellations, making flight-specific confirmation particularly important. Aletihad News Center
Selected Emirates services between Dubai and Saudi destinations have also been affected, according to the supplied Gulf News update. Passengers should consult their booking notifications for the status of their departure and return flights.
Singapore Airlines has extended cancellations of its Singapore–Dubai services, SQ494 and SQ495, until February 28, 2027, citing the regional geopolitical situation. singaporeair.com
A cancellation end date should not be treated as a guarantee that flights will resume immediately afterwards. Airline schedules remain subject to further changes.
Hormuz security claims remain disputed
Shipping security remains a major source of uncertainty in the Gulf.
According to the Gulf News report, US Central Command said American forces had cleared the Strait of Hormuz’s primary international shipping routes of Iranian mines. Iran disputed that account and claimed several tankers had caught fire after striking mines.
The report noted that the Associated Press could not independently verify Iran’s tanker claims. Those accounts should therefore be distinguished from confirmed vessel incidents.
Separately, Oman reported rescuing 25 crew members from the Panama-flagged vessel RITI after an attack and fire near Musandam. The supplied report did not establish a connection between that incident and Iran’s claims.
What UAE residents should monitor next
The immediate changes for households concern fuel costs, travel arrangements and coastal access.
- Motorists: November’s lower prices take effect on November 1.
- Travellers: Check the exact flight number and travel date with the airline before leaving for the airport.
- Beach visitors: Follow official closure notices and avoid entering restricted coastal areas.
- Residents following regional developments: Distinguish official statements and independently verified incidents from disputed claims.
For now, the fuel reduction provides a measurable saving. Flight availability and coastal access will continue to depend on operational updates from airlines and UAE authorities.
