Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan has reaffirmed that tolerance and human fraternity remain central to the UAE’s national identity. He said these values are deeply reflected in the vision of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. According to him, the country’s progress relies on collective responsibility, meaningful participation, and a shared commitment to cooperation across all communities.

Embracing Diversity in the UAE

Marking the International Day for Tolerance, Sheikh Nahyan noted that tolerance in the UAE does not imply ignoring differences. Instead, it embraces diversity as a foundation for peaceful coexistence. With more than 200 nationalities living in harmony, the UAE stands as a unique model of multicultural engagement. Because these diverse communities interact daily, the nation has developed a culture rooted in openness and mutual respect.

Leadership Driving Coexistence

Sheikh Nahyan highlighted that under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s leadership, the UAE has become a global example of coexistence and cultural inclusion. He said the leadership’s commitment to community cooperation, human rights, and freedom of belief strengthens the nation’s stability. The country’s dedication to fair governance and rule of law ensures that all residents feel secure and valued.

Ministry of Tolerance and Its National Mission

The Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence plays a central role in promoting these principles. Sheikh Nahyan explained that the ministry works through education, community engagement, and partnerships across sectors. Its initiatives aim to discourage extremism while encouraging understanding. Programs such as World Governments as Incubators for Tolerance and Knights of Tolerance help deepen national awareness and build stronger social bonds.

National Initiatives Strengthening Social Harmony

Across schools and universities, tolerance clubs create platforms for students to participate in community-building efforts. The annual National Festival of Tolerance and Coexistence further reinforces public commitment to shared values. Through events and dialogues, these programs highlight the importance of compassion, respect, and peaceful living.

Global and Local Projects Promoting Peace

Sheikh Nahyan also highlighted international initiatives such as the Gardens of Tolerance and the Global Tolerance Alliance. These projects promote cooperation between nations and encourage peaceful dialogue. Because they focus on mutual understanding and shared responsibility, they support global efforts to create more inclusive societies.

Rule of Law as the Foundation of Stability

The Emirati approach begins with a commitment to rule of law. Sheikh Nahyan said this principle ensures fairness, security, and dignity for all residents. It shapes a stable environment where families thrive and where diverse cultures are preserved. Expatriate community schools help sustain languages and traditions while encouraging engagement with Emirati values.

A Continuing National Mission

Sheikh Nahyan concluded that the UAE will continue building its future on generosity, coexistence, and mutual respect. He said the ministry remains committed to developing initiatives that highlight the country’s humanitarian leadership. According to him, tolerance is not only a social value but also a foundation for peace, security, and long-term prosperity.
