Lionel Messi’s GOAT tour in India created excitement but also drew mixed reactions. Critics questioned the event’s organization, especially in Kolkata, where chaos unfolded. Many people found it ironic that the event brought football legends like Messi, Luis Suárez, and Rodrigo De Paul to India, even as the country’s domestic football league remains suspended due to financial challenges.
Messi received a warm welcome. The ceremony included a traditional offering of light. He was accompanied by his Inter Miami teammates, Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul. Together, they visited a wildlife rescue facility dedicated to caring for rescued animals. Messi also met Radhika Ambani, where they exchanged friendly pleasantries.
Despite some problems with the event’s organization, the tour gave Indian fans a rare chance to see Messi in person. For many, it was a dream-come-true moment. However, some couldn’t ignore the issues with the event’s management.
Messi showed his gratitude in an Instagram post. In the video, he thanked Indian fans for their warm hospitality. He also promised to return to India for either another match or future engagements.
During the tour, Messi also visited Vantara, a well-known wildlife rescue center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This visit was part of the GOAT India Tour 2025. Messi participated in cultural exchanges and engaged with conservationists, reinforcing his commitment to animal welfare and conservation.
While visiting Vantara, Messi wore an ultra-rare Richard Mille RM 003-V2 GMT Tourbillon ‘Asia Edition’. Valued at USD 1.1 million (₹9.1 crore), the watch was a gift from Anant Ambani. This gesture highlighted the bond between Messi and the Indian business figure.
Anant Ambani was also spotted wearing the Richard Mille RM 056 Sapphire Tourbillon, valued at USD 5 million (₹45.59 crore). This luxury watch added an extra layer of exclusivity to the event, symbolizing the mutual respect between Messi and Ambani.
