Israeli airstrikes killed the director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza City, Marwan al-Sultan, along with his family. Gaza’s health ministry confirmed the attack. Hospital staff described the director as a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly to treat thousands of wounded civilians since the start of the war.
The ministry reported that Israeli strikes killed 142 Palestinians and wounded 487 others in the past 24 hours. Medical facilities across the enclave are overwhelmed and running low on supplies. Several hospitals issued urgent appeals for fuel and medicine to keep critical equipment operating.
The attacks came as US President Donald Trump announced a new 60-day ceasefire plan. He stated that Israel agreed to the terms and urged Hamas to sign the proposal to end hostilities.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said:
“Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalise the 60-day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the war.”
He warned that if Hamas refuses the deal:
“IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”
A spokesperson for Hamas said the group is reviewing the ceasefire draft but criticized Israel’s “unrelenting aggression” and continued blockade. Local analysts noted that any truce would require guarantees on humanitarian aid and future negotiations on Gaza’s status.
Earlier this year, a two-month ceasefire lasted between January and March. It collapsed after Israel resumed its siege and offensive. Israeli officials said Hamas failed to meet security commitments and accused the group of rearming during the pause.
Residents in northern Gaza described scenes of devastation. Entire apartment blocks have been reduced to rubble. Many families are sheltering in overcrowded schools and makeshift camps with little access to clean water or food.
Regional observers warned that unless both sides engage in serious talks, the humanitarian crisis will deepen. Aid groups stressed the need for sustained access to deliver relief to the more than two million civilians trapped in the enclave.
